DVD Releases for Week of 4/10/2012

• 'The Iron Lady' - Meryl Streep stars in a very intimate but pretty standard portrait of Margaret Thatcher, the first and only female Prime Minister of England. Streep is wonderful as usual, however the story plods along as a by the book biopic, when it could have been so much more. Never has a film so under utilized it's lead actress. While fascinating, were it not for Streep, the film would have faded into the background.
• 'The Darkest Hour' - The only thing dark about this film was the empty theaters. This bomb tells the tale of 5 students stuck in Moscow fighting off an alien invasion. Mind numbing in its ineptness. Leave it alone.

It was a slow week for DVDs - better to go back and check last week's releases for some pretty good stuff!
