DVD Releases for Week of 10/16/2012
Well, its a week that includes an Adam Sandler release. What a waste of perfectly good laser imprinted sand.
'Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted' - Alex the Lion (Ben Stiller), Marty the Zebra (Chris Rock), Gloria the Hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith) and Melman the Giraffe (David Schwimmer) are still trying to get home and are still just as funny for the adults as they are the kids! This time, their path home takes them through Europe where they join and change a circus in their own Madagascar fashion. Family fun for everyone!
'That's My Boy' - Sandler at one point gave me hope. With such films as 'Punch Drunk Love' and 'Funny People', I really thought Sandler could produce something that was of value. Obviously he needs better management because someone keeps letting him make pieces of crap like this total waste of celluloid.
'Chernobyl Diaries' - Oren Peli, the creator of 'Paranormal Activity' series generally strikes out here in what could have been a pretty good horror movie about a group of tourists who take an 'extreme tour' of Chernobyl. The only problem - it was BORING.
'Moonrise Kingdom' - Charming, whimsical and often very touching, Wes Anderson delivers a wonderful film filled with heartfelt characters and fantastic performances. Bruce Willis gives a fantastic performance and proves once again he has talent beyond 'Die Hard'. It's too bad this was released earlier this year as it may very well get overlooked for the Oscar nod it deserves.
