'This Is the End' - The Apocalypse funny? You bet!!
Is it a bromance movie? Is it a horror movie? Is it a comedy? Yes to all three; 'This Is the End' are all of these and that much more. While not without it's flaws, and not quite the funniest movie of the summer, 'This Is the End' is certainly one of the funniest movies Seth Rogan has done in quite awhile.
Filled with self depreciating humor, 'This Is the End' follows the tale of the Seth Rogan crew, all playing themselves, as they attend a party at James Francos new home only to have the apocalypse happen. Not only does the world become an actual hell, none of Seth's gang is taken to heaven. Instead, they are left to try and figure out a way to survive and somehow redeem themselves in order to get taken into heaven.
Yes, the plot is thin. Yes it is full of holes. And yes, it does drag at times towards the end. But the laughs more than make up for the issues the movie has. It is also further proof that the hilarious Danny McBride would survive quite well in a post apocalyptic world! The movie is a literal who's who of modern day comedic talent: Seth Rogan, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Jay Baruchel, and many more. Especially funny is the appearance of Emma Watson, who seems can hold her own during the apocalypse (also begging the hilarious question, what did Emma do to not be taken to heaven?).
Sight gags, one liners and just plain shock comedy fills the screen from one scene to the next, proving once again that Rogen is a comedic talent and should stick to that! This is a 3 star effort worth a second viewing to see the stuff you missed while laughing!
