We'll see if this works...

Writing is all about the commitment. Its the commitment to the craft, the art, the voice; but most of all, it is the commitment to the TIME! And for me, that is the most difficult commitment to make.

Heck, I have a difficult time just committing to writing my reviews here. But I manage to simply because they are not as big of a time commitment as the novel (which I may be renaming by the way, more on that in a later post).

To write or not to write..that is the question..

To write or not to write, that is the question..ok, so I am riffing Shakespeare; but who better to riff than the bard himself, who I am quite sure ran into the inevitable, 'your title sucks', or 'that really is a stupid line'.

I wonder how he would handle it?

If he had a blog, I am guessing he would actually write about it - just put it out there, as a form of therapy I suppose. So, here I am, in therapy!

Long Day....

Today was a long day, and while I know I need to do some writing, I am just too tired. It's funny, everything I read tells me that no matter the circumstances, I should sit and do some writing. But, when I am this tired, I simply just don't feel very creative. Although, one would argue that the very fact that I am journaling in my Blog right now would mean that I am getting the writing in.

Who knew?

One of the hardest things about writing is keeping the story flowing. It is the most difficult part for me as I write in real time, as the events happen. I have an outline, but often the story takes me far from the path I THOUGHT I wanted to go.

Case in point, I have been stuck for some time, writing a few paragraphs and then lingering on where to go next. But tonight, on a quick run to WalMart in orde to send some ants to their deaths, inspiration struck and I now know where I want the current story to go and the next BOOK to begin!

An excerpt from the forthcoming 'Immortal Beloved'

She hungers and I smile widely.

From the corner of my eye I notice a shadowy figure dart from behind the wide berth of a willow tree.  It is her – the girl I have seen before, in countless ages before, always fleeting, glances here and there, a beautiful wraith floating in and out of my tortured consciousness.  She is there, framed in the drooping branches of the willow, by massive green tendrils, her alabaster skin a stark contrast to the lushness of the tree.

Day 2!

Ok - well, still making changes to the site; getting some help with a cool banner to put on the home page. Its a bit egotistic I know, but I am trying to work hard at building my personal brand! I mean, I know how to do that from a business standpoint - but I am not looking for a new job here - I like my current job, I just want to raise awareness of my novel!

I am sure I will get plenty of feedback (good and bad) from those that I love! Thats the great things about friends - they will always let you know!!

Day 1 of the NEW site

Well, its a new day. I am committed to finishing my first novel, tentatively titled: 'Immortal Beloved'. its a gothic horror/romance told from the point of view of the main character. He is a nearly immortal being and this first of many (hopefully) tales shapes him as a character and his search for the immortal beloved of his very long life. There are some, what I think, cool twist and turns. I hope it is something that many find enjoyable.
